Synopsis:
This is a story about girl named Samantha and her neighboorhood friends who called themselves the Shady Oak Gang. The main characters are the Abrams, Samantha, Bobbie Jean, Sandy, Jolene, Richard, Skeeter and Lil Bit. Samantha goes home on the last day of school to find out her parents have to go out of town for two days and she will stay with her next door neighbors the Abrams. Samantha’s dad is a private detective. Samantha and friends like to think of themselves as detectives also and get into a lot of mischief because of it. As soon as Samantha walks into the Abram’s house one terrible thing after the other happens. Samantha did not know Mr. Abrams had a wooden leg when she walked into the living room he was asleep in his recliner with his wooden leg proped up beside the chair Samantha saw his leg and thought it had fallen off and Mr. Abrams was dead. When Mr. Abrams woke up he sneezed then his teeth fell out. Then Mrs. Abrams started falling apart the gang was convinced aliens had taken the Abrams and hid them someplace. The other parents got in on the joke the Abrams was playing on the children, even the druggest. One catastrophe after the other happened until finally their parents decided enough was enough but not before giving them one more good scare in the hopes they would stop being so nosy and playing jokes on each other. Jolene and family has to move which makes everyone sad , they give her an unusal going away party and Samantha writes her a poem. A sequil will be coming soon called “Samantha and the Dagwood Tree.
